Haven't been around much.

I don't know exactly how it happened, it just sort of snuck up on me I think, one morning I woke up and looked down and I could barely see my toes. I remember thinking:
"Jeeesus H! where in the blue hell did that belly come from??"
they tell me that you don't realize that you're gaining weight while its happening but luckily for me- I started weighing myself every day again in the mornings and once before I went to bed. when my weight hit 256 lbs I decided that enough was enough, it was time to do something about it. so I started going for a run every morning and cutting back on my carb intake, and aside from a couple of minor set-backs early on- (Like a swollen calf muscle) I'm happy to report that after my run today I managed to get my weight down from 256 to 235. I still have a long way to go but I'm making significant progress. The one thing aside from the weight loss that I've noticed is I sleep better, I breathe better and I seem to have more energy than ever before. anyhow I just wanted to pop in and see how everyone was doing, I have some time so I think I'll make the rounds this afternoon. I see that Blogstream is still up and running, but no matter I'm done with it, I deactivated my last blog there and I'm not going back. anyhow time to go catch up on some blogs.. then tomorrow morning its back to the running for me.

  1. Atta-boy. However you do not run unless there is something behind you with eyeballs about eleven inches apart. And, always remember the great cardiologist, Jim Fixx, who wrote the book, "Running". He dropped dead of a coranary -while running..

Oh, diet is what it is about. I may soon drink only water. If you read my blog you know that I vary between meat and spuds - last night, and shrimp fried rice tonight.

    I need to walk more...

    Hang in there.

I am happy to see that you are still around, even though there is less of you. :^)
You are wise to lose that weight. So many physical ailments come out of being overweight. Keep it up and keep blogging.

  3. I figured you were staying away from the computer in order to stay motivated. We sit here for hours on end after kidding ourselves that we'll only be on a few minutes, and the next thing you know, we're looking for something to snack on.

I have found that for those occasional long trips on the information superhighway, having things like grapes or berries in the fridge are just the thing.

  4. Well...i am glad to see that the rumors of your death were greatly exaggerated and you have found your laptop....

Running can be dangerous to your health...would suggest a large Chinese guy and a Rickshaw..much easier on the knees and ankle joints.....lol.....

Behave and let us hear from you again soon....

I find that diet alone doesn't do it for me. Running works for me as long as I don't over do it.

I was checking in on Tumblr from time to time because I find it less addicting than blogger or Twitter. but you're right I have been trying to avoid it as much as possible.. I need to drop a few more pounds before I'm done though.. as for snacks, I avoid those too. thanks for stopping by.

as to Blogstream - I feel the same as you BUT - I do wonder why it's still up for?

it reminds me of spacestation somewhere in space still operating although nobody is at the controls

  12. Thanks Iceman! I went for a run today and I learned something new about myself.. when there's a dog chasing me I tend to run even faster. Yeah it does make you wonder about Blogstream, it seems to be on auto pilot.

  13. Hmmmm, a new business idea. Rent a doberman to runners so they can run faster.....

  14. Congrats on the health improvements, Scratch. I admire people who run. I don't run, not even with a dog after me. (I'd have better luck convincing the dog I'm too rancid to eat.) I accept that I'm built for comfort, not for speed. But I do get pretty cranky if I don't get in a good brisk walk and my yoga every day. Keep up the good work!
